Mida Community

Mission Development Association, a community program of education, micro-business and health care based in Idutywa, is also being supported by Reach South Africa.

These projects range from health care for HIV sufferers and their families to Micro-Enterprise Development for individuals and groups to enable self sufficiency.

HIV/AIDS is having a devastating impact on young people across the globe. More than half of all new infections affect those aged under 25, while more than 14 million children have been orphaned by the pandemic.

We help communities provide care and support to children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS and provide people with HIV/AIDS with better access to support services and works hard to address attitudes and stigma related to these issues.

We are helping people to earn a decent income to feed their families all year round by supporting Mission Development Association to develop their capacity to access funds and better manage programs by themselves. This work includes training in financial management, proposal and report writing and strategic and project planning.

We also work with orphans and child-headed families to try and find support networks in their community environment and through facilitating small business ventures.

Millions of children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS, and it is likely that up to 40 million more will be orphaned by the pandemic in the next decade.
